We are Taking Small Steps to Influence and Encourage Agricultural Opportunities

Foodscape Visions Non-Profit had it’s beginnings in the late 1990’s as my wife and I learned that “Food is Medicine” is not just a saying. We had the brilliant idea to grow our own food and we have lived since that time improving our gardening methods year after year.

Each season we learned more about what actually makes plants grow, from the micro-industrial “science experiment” approach powered by home improvement stores’ garden sections to organic gardening. And finally landing on Back to Eden Gardening Methodology.

Back To Eden Gardening is a full blend of permaculture and regenerative agriculture practices. Also known as deep mulch and manure gardening, sustainable agriculture with animals, lasagna gardening etc.

But what all these methods have in common is NO TILL gardening with an emphases on building soil through the natural process (with a little help from us). Soil is a continuous process. Soil does not grow in bags. It took lots of processing and time to get that bag of soil (good or bad).

All of this led us through the years to understand a much larger problem. All this terrible food we are eating from the grocery stores is literally filled with poisons, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, synthetic fertilizers, bio-engineered ingredients and genetically modified strains food.

What’s worse is most of our society has been slowly drawn in to the consumption of these products with full trust in the system of oversight which is supposed to keep us safe.

The only solution is to invest in yourself and your food so you know exactly from where it comes. Many have forgotten altogether or never knew how food is produced or grown. Most do not have the time, energy, money, land or resources  to grow their own food.

We have created a Foodscape Vision on a small scale as part of our healthier lifestyle. As we developed our gardening methods, we also developed a deep love and passion for the peaceful nature of this adopted lifestyle. We grow abundant amounts of food. We store and preserve that food through several methods: dehydrating, smoking, freezing, canning etc. We use it for cooking, seasoning, teas, tinctures, balms and more.

The extension of this Foodscape Vision to the local community necessitates a bold approach.

“IF WE BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.”

We must recreate space for agricultural commerce in our communities, as a permanent fixture, not as a novelty on the weekend. Permanent structures for the purpose of food production supported by local communities and even municipalities if they see the value and want to get involved.

Anything we can do to help create more agricultural opportunities from family home to local farmer’s markets, that is the mission of Foodscape Visions.

Thank you for your support.
